History
EXP began on Saturday, August 6, 2005, in the main Worship Center of Paramount Baptist Church. Its original intent was to provide a casual, contemporary church service for those who — for whatever reason — preferred an alternative to Sunday morning worship. Some had jobs or responsibilities that prohibited them from attending on Sundays. Others longed for a more creative and progressive worship experience, or perhaps a smaller, more intimate community. Many were attracted to EXP’s clusters, a small-group discipleship structure offered as an alternative to Sunday School.
EXP met in Paramount’s Worship Center until January 2007, when the ministry moved into its own space across the street, in the old Paramount Terrace Christian Church auditorium (which became Paramount’s property in late 2006). Now, following most Saturday night worship services — and after EXP:Kids and Minikids have concluded — the EXP community gathers for a shared meal and family fellowship in the new facility.
